Yes, ZixMail can be used to meet federal and state requirements.

Zix uses AES 256 encryption, which is the standard used by the federal government, as a MINIMUM. In some cases, the encryption standard will be even higher.

Users will receive an email notification from the sender (you), stating they have received an encrypted message, and a URL link to secured portal, hosted by Zixcorp, to view it. After authentication, they will view the message in their browser, download any attachments, and have the opportunity to send an encrypted reply.

By default, messages are stored for 14 days. There are options to extend or shorten this period.

It usually takes 24-48 hours for ZixCorp to set up your account. When this is complete, you will receive an activation email with instructions for downloading and installing the software.

ZixMail can be installed and run on Windows 2000, XP and Vista (32 bit versions only).

The current ZixMail for Outlook plugin is designed for Microsoft Outlook integration only. However, the ZixMail desktop (standalone) version works with any email client, including Outlook Express

ZixMail for MS Outlook will work with all currently available versions of Outlook. ZixMail does not integrate with any version of Outlook Express.
